The Trump administration may soon have the Transportation Security Administration check airline passengers' temperatures at a dozen or so airports as early as next week, according to a report from theWall Street Journal, though there are questions around the feasibility and legality of it.

Demand for travel during the pandemic has plummeted and U.S. airlines have cut their flying by 80% to 90% and parked the majority of their planes as they seek to reduce their losses. Some $25 billion in government payroll support from the CARES Act is tiding them over in the short term, but mass layoffs are expected in October after restrictions from the government aid expire. There are 4,534,673 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the world, with many countries putting flight and border restrictions in place amid the pandemic.
